Tõnu
Naissoos first band, formed at the age of fifteen, was Mickeys; it was the same trio
the budding pianist stepped out with at the legendary Tallinn jazz festival of 1967. In
1976, Tõnu Naissoo graduated from Tallinn Conservatory in composition. The years
following the conservatory-studies have marked his consistent development as both soloist
and ensemble-player, as performer of both improvisations and classical works. (In 1988 he
was the featured pianist at the American premiere of Alfred Schnittkes Symphony
no.1) He has written music for numerous cinema and theatre productions. An acknowledged
keyboards-man who sounds truly convincing on acoustic as well as electric instruments,
Tõnu Naissoo has performed with most varied line-ups home and abroad.
