A
brand-new combo, borne mere months ago. In February, at Tudengijazz 2000 they made their
presence felt in no uncertain terms, and their concerts must have made fresh jazz-converts
of many a young soul. The Tyng69-ers themselves are actually rather «old hands»,
although the members’ previous experiences in music are not limited strictly to jazz.
Drummer-man Toomas Rull and saxman Meelis Unt can really rock as well as
truly swing it. And electric-violinist Tiit Kikas has traced out and drawn up a
variety of future-folk visions. As a trio, they will fold out their manifold expertise,
jazz it up, and take it from there – to the dancefloor.
