«From Porter to
Mozart», reads the ensemble's current agenda. In a few more words: five-part vocal
arrangements of Cole Porter's gracious songs and Wolfgang Amadeus' lovely airs, and of
many more marvellous melodies in between. (Think, for example, The Swingle Singers) The
group's leading lady, Mare Väljataga, made a name for herself as one of the most popular
performers in the 1970s Estonia. Her repertoire of yore contained anything from Latin
pieces to jazz-rock. At present she holds the post of voice teacher at the Georg Ots Music
School in Tallinn. The current group, naturally enough, unites her with some of her most
promising students. And also marks Mare Väljataga's comeback into public view after many,
many a moon.
