The American bass player is currently the most in demand jazz musicians on his instrument – his virtuoso skills and creative playing has attracted famous jazz-greats so much that sometimes they have to stand in line, waiting for their chance to get him to play with them.

Christian's new trio consists of two "younger" musicians.  Christian Sands on piano and Ulysses Owens, Jr. on drums. Having played with the veterans of jazz since arriving in NYC at the age of 18, McBride understands the importance of working with young talent.  Although Sands and Owens are on the young side, they both possess a very mature sound. Sands, 21 has three solo albums to his credit, three Grammy Awards show appearances and had the privilege of performing a duet with the late Oscar Peterson.  McBride performed with and interviewed Sands as a stand-in for Marian McPartland on Piano Jazz last year.  Owens, 29 a graduate of Juilliard has an impressive array of sidemen appearances on his burgeoning resume including, Wynton Marsalis, Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves, Maceo Parker Terence Blanchard and many others.  Owens often performs with McBride's acoustic quintet, Inside Straight.  The Christian McBride Trio will perform originals and standards in an intriguing set of music that is sure to captivate.
