In Estonian Folk Orchestra old and new meet in a dynamic mixture of instruments and personalities. The musicians of the Orchestra share their deep interest in traditional Estonian playing, dancing and singing, peforming it in the way that the present day hears through the old melodies. The musicians of the Orchestra create a unique world of sound and rhythm through a common focal point. Bagpipe and saxophone, accordion and Estonian traditional accordion (lõõts), viola da gamba and zithers - combinations that were unthinkable in old times become true in EFO's music. The music of EFO can be enjoyed sitting and contemplating in a concert hall or feeling it with your body when dancing. EFO leaves it to the listener which way to enjoy their music.

EFO is a joint project initiated by Tuulikki Bartosiki between the students and teachers of traditional music of Estonian Music and Theatre Academy, Viljandi Culture Academy and Royal College of Music in Stockholm. The Orchestra is directed by Jonas Knuttson, Tuulikki Bartosik and Robert Jürjendal.
