03. February 2015

The biggest jazz festival of the Baltics, JAZZKAAR is getting a new home in Telliskivi creative city.

Jazzkaar taking place 17 – 26 April is moving closer to the heart of town from the seaside to Telliskivi creative city that has gone through a big transformation in the past years. The concerts of the vernal jazz party take place in two buildings – Vaba Lava (Free Stage) and Punane Maja (Red House). Musicians can also be met in other places in the creative city during the festival. JAZZKAAR 2015 programme will be released on 10 February.

“We wish to create the most suitable conditions for the most prominent international culture events taking place in Tallinn. Jazzkaar is definitely one of them – already this spring we can enjoy world class music and interesting artists in the concert spaces of Telliskivi,” says Jaanus Juss, the founder of Telliskivi Creative City, “Collaboration creates nice atmosphere, more creative energy and excitement,” he adds.

“We’re happy that our lovely audience has a chance to enjoy the feel of a real festival, moving from one concert to another and being part of exhibitions, music, city space and culinary experiences,” says the artistic director of the festival, Anne Erm. Building the new center for the festival is supported by Prike. “Jazzkaar is an important event in the culture scene of Estonia, and as the location partner of the festival, Prike supports filling this environment with fresh content and good music,” said Lauri Põldemaa, chairman of the board of Prike.

“One of the principles Jazzkaar follows is to also appreciate the environment and reasonable lifestyle in its choices,” adds Erm. The festival tries to do its best to act while honouring and understanding the surroundings. “You can’t change the world overnight, but together with our audience and partners, we can take the first five steps on the path of a more sustainable lifestyle.”

The gold sponsor of Jazzkaar is Danske Bank, whose clients get 20% discount on the tickets. Head sponsors are KAFO, Eesti Päevaleht and accommodation sponsor is My City Hotel.
