By September 2009, this album had sold 83,000 copies making it the ACT label`s second best-selling album to date (behind e.s.t`s Viaticum which has sold more than 100,000 units) – as Michael Caine might have said, „Not many people know that.“ Taking its title from an Ardy Stüwer painting, it was recorded in September 1997 „with Christmas in mind.“ Over the years since its original release the album has gained something of a cult following in Europe, Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung arguing it is „quite possibly the greatest Christmas album to come from contemporary jazz.“ And quite possibly it is, which owes much to Wesseltoft`s understated, minimalistic approach.
