World music meets jazz, as Abraham’s Café’s musical style blends jazzy melodies and patterns with African, Latin and Arabic tones. The combination of classical instruments such as clarinets and the accordion with the mystic twangs of oud create a unique, magical sound that is truly their own.
Holger Marjamaa Trio
Young Estonian pianist and composer Holger Marjamaa will be taking the stage. Winner of the Young Jazz Talent Award in 2013 for his compositions and performances, he has played alongside top musicians including Dennis Chambers, Mike Phillips, Datevik, and Kevin Walker. The trio of piano, bass and drums will be sure to impress the audience once again this year.
Kadri Voorand Quartet
With several prestigious awards under her belt including winning title of 2014 Cultural Endowment Award, 2009 Young Jazz Talent Award, and Estonian Music Awards’ Best Jazz Album in 2015, Kadri Voorand is a precocious young vocalist and composer. With albums reaching the European Jazz Magazine charts, her vocals are remarkably strange to say the least. A range of tangy notes to soulful melodies result in a sound that pushes the traditional boundaries of jazz to new levels.
The concert will bring a delicious plate of jazz music from Estonian artist: internationally acclaimed Abraham’s Cafe with its oriental sound and new band members, young talented pianist and composer Holger Marjamaa, and outstanding jazz singer Kadri Voorand.
