FOUR DOUBLE BASSES
special project, young talent, instrumental
Four Double Basses who gave a super popular concert in the autumn, is coming to Jazzkaar again. Musicians from three generations play in the quartet – the legendary Taavo Remmel, his son and young bass talent Heikko Remmel, and the valued bass virtuosos Peedu Kass and Mihkel Mälgand. All four are appreciated in collectives both in Estonia and abroad.
MARIE VAIGLA & RAUL VAIGLA
vocal, mainstream jazz, intimate
Raul Vaigla is a multifaceted musician whose juicy bass guitar is known from bands like Ultima Thule, Dagö. At the concert, he will take the stage with his daughter Marie Vaigla whose colourful vocals are known from the band Frankie Animal. Their collaboration began in 2013 when they participated at Eesti Laul with the song ‘Maybe’.
KIRKE KARJA QUINTET “Earcut”
young talent, instrumental, contemporary jazz
Kirke Karja’s ‘Earcut’ is a new programme which draws inspiration from American linguist Noam Chomsky and from the theory of generative grammar. The material is pieced out according to strict rules, but combinations of all sorts of single elements sound colourful, multi-level, unique, and rich with illusions.
