The brilliant and meaningful play of the legendary American guitarist John Scofield has inspired jazz musicians around the world for decades and his momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Scofield performs more than 200 concerts a year and the musician has recorded 78 albums – 30 out of them under his own name.

What separates him from other jazz guitarists is the rich style palette that carry heavy influences from funky, soul, blues, Ernie, post pop and rock. The three time Grammy winning artist played at Jazzkaar in 3004 with his quartet and in 2015 in a duo with Jon Cleary. The best ones return.

The list of stage partners for John Scofield is impressive, guitarists Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, Jim Hall, John Abercrombie, Robben Ford, Mike Stern, but also other notable jazz artists like Herbie Hancock, brothers Becker, Dave Holland, Charlie Haden, Joe Lovano, Martin, Medeski & Wood and many others. Scofield has released albums under labels such as Blue Note, Verve, EmArcy. The freshest album of the 66-year-old master called ‘Combo 66’ holds freedom and timelessness in its calm swinging flow, solidly placing Scofield at the top of the list of jazz legends.
