The Spanish flamenco-jazz quintet Los Aurora is currently shaking up the national and international music scenes, creating a new perspective for flamenco. Having emerged from the Higher Music Education School of Taller de Músics, the group brings together the young vocal talent Pere Martínez, Max Villavecchia on piano, Javier Garrabella on bass and Joan Carles Marí on drums. Accompanied by the impassioned flamenco performances of the dancer Pol Jimenez, Los Aurora undertakes a musical adventure that will travel through the most popular songs of the composer Manuel de Falla, one of Spain’s most important composers of the first half of the 20th century, innovating his pieces with piano, drums and bass. In their mesmerising performances the group from Barcelona also fuses flamenco and jazz with with other musical styles and aesthetics.
Having first surprised the audience in 2017, already a year later Los Aurora was entrusted with the task of opening of the 25th edition of Ciutat Flamenco, one of the most important flamenco festivals in the world. Coincident with this occasion, they released their debut album Aurora under Taller de Músics’ own label. With their innovative and powerful fusion of flamenco with jazz and various contemporary genres, Los Aurora creates a powerful and visually impactful experience that is sure to appeal to both jazz and flamenco fans.
