Awarded with the title Estonian Best Music Festival, the Tallinn international festival Jazzkaar today announces its full line-up. Only today and tomorrow, all new announced concerts’ tickets are 40% off! Also, a limited amount of day passes are on sale!
In the 27th year of its existence the heart of the festival will once again be a creative hotspot of Tallinn, the Telliskivi Creative City. All jazz fans are welcome at several venues from April 22 to May 1st. Jazzkaar will also visit many other cities in Estonia and Tartu and Viljandi will even present Jazzkaar mini-festivals with several concerts.
The line-up of Jazzkaar 2016 artists will surprise and fulfil many dreams of music fans – Al Di Meola, Aleksander Paal, Alevtina Poljakova Group, Bachar Mar-Khalifé, Becca Stevens, Bernhoft, Charnett Moffett’s Nettwork, Chris Potter Quartet, Domas Aleksa Band, Erki Pärnoja, gala-concert “Estonian Jazz Awards 10”, Hidden Orchestra, Holger Marjamaa, Jan Lundgren Duo & String Quartet, José James, Jürgen Rooste, Kadri Voorand Quartet, Kristel Aaslaid, Lambert, Lexsoul Dancemachine, Maarja Nuut, MaiGroup, Maria Faust, Maria Laura Baccarini & Régis Huby, MiaMee, Noëp, Pae Kollektiiv, Peedu Kass Momentum, Roberto Fonseca Trio, Shitney Spears, Siim Aimla Band, Sofia Rubina Band feat. The headliners of Jazzkaar 2016 are the previously announced 5 time Grammy-winner guitarist Al Di Meola (USA), the star saxophone player and Grammy-winner Chris Potter (USA), the multiinstrumentalist-singer Jarle Bernhoft (NO) and the magnet of club nights Hidden Orchestra (UK). Now they will be joined with additional headliners – magnetic singer and composer Jose James (USA), the trio of legends Charnett Moffett’s Network feat. Stanley Jordan & Jonathan Barber (USA) and the pianist Roberto Fonseca Trio (Cuba).
Many new programs and albums will be created for the festival by Estonian musicians – Kadri Voorand Quartet, Maarja Nuut, Peedu Kass Momentum and Trump Conception will present them at Jazzkaar. Jazzkaar has specially commisioned a new family production “The Jazz Alphabet Book” and a special project “Velocipede” by internationally acclaimed Estonian saxophonist Maria Faust. United for one night and one concert will be all the ten Estonian Jazz Award Winners – Jaak Sooäär, Tanel Ruben, Siim Aimla, Raivo Tafenau, Villu Veski, Taavo Remmel, Kristjan Randalu, Meelis Vind, Kadri Voorand and the new winner.
Best jazz from Europe and beyond will be represented by bassist and singer Steinar Raknes (NO), fascinating new sounds by pianist Lamber (DE), orient-influenced program by pianist and vocalist Bachar Mar-Khalife (LB-FR), renowned pianist Jan Lundgren with legendary European jazz heritage by Jan Johansson (SE), powerful girl trio Shitney Spears (DK), a tribute to Giorgio Gaber by jazz duo Maria Laura Baccarini & Regis Huby (IT-FR), charming duo Veronika Harcsa-Bálint Gyémánt (HU), energetic Domas Aleksa Band (LT) and many Estonian musicians.
Jazzkaar club nights will be groovy and vibrant with best DJs and bands and playing until early morning hours – Tamir Grinberg Band (IL), Noëp (EE), Erki Pärnoja “Himmelbjerget” (EE-SE), Sofia Rubina Band (EE-RU), State of Zoe (EE) etc.
