During the Jazzkaar Festival from April 20-29, there is a wonderful opportunity to see an exhibition called \u201eJazzonance” by Hungarian photographer Istv\u00e1n Csaba S\u00e1nta<\/strong>. It’s a high value collection of the portraits of world’s famous jazz musicians. While working as a freelance photographer he has taken photos of many stars of jazz, including the ones already performed on Jazzkaar – Courtney Pine, Bobby McFerrin, Dianne Reeves etc. The photographer has followed the musicians on their tours from concert to concert, sometimes travelling thousands of kilometers for just one show.<\/p>\n <\/body> <\/html><\/p>\n Istv\u00e1n Csaba S\u00e1nta<\/strong> (1978, Sepsiszentgy\u00f6rgy) moved from Transilvania to Budapest where in 2002 he graduated from a school of photography. The same year he met with Henri Cartier-Bresson, a French photographer, and later with Josef Koudelka, who both had great influence of S\u00e1nta choosing his career.<\/p>\n With photography a new passion was discovered \u2013 travelling. Istv\u00e1n Csaba S\u00e1nta has auto-stopped through most of the Europe and even managed to hitchike to Africa. He\u00b4s visited Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and the reason he\u00b4s doing it is simple \u2013 to immortalize different cultures. Mostly he focuses on those who live in constant need. He pays special attention to the gypsies’ world, their form of living, their habits. He regularly goes back to Transylvania, and keeps contact with gypsies on many sites.<\/p>\n In 2004 he was admitted by the Society of Hungarian Press Photographers. The society was closed in 2008 and Istv\u00e1n Csaba S\u00e1nta became a member of the Association of Hungarian Journalists as a freelance press photographer. Since 2008 he is a member of the Hungarian Jazz Federation as a jazz photographer.<\/p>\n His works have been published in several publications and appeared on many exhibitions. In 2007 he won Hungarian Press Award in the art category with the photo of African jazz singer Simphiwe Dana.<\/p>\n
