American singer-songwriter Gregory Porter, one of the world’s absolute top jazz singers who has unreservedly won the hearts of audiences worldwide, is coming to Estonia again. The headliner of Christmas Jazz will perform at the Alexela Concert Hall on 15 December. Concert tickets are on sale from today!
“Gregory Porter first performed in Estonia ten years ago. At the time his concert at the Sea Pavilion was announced, he was a rising star. Porter’s warm velvety baritone, heartfelt rapport with the audience and catchy melodies made him a Grammy winner with his album “Liquid Spirit”. His second visit to Estonia took place in 2015, when he performed for a full house at the Nordea Concert Hall, unreservedly winning the hearts of the local audience. Estonian audiences have repeatedly asked us to invite Gregory Porter back, and we are delighted to be able to fulfill the dream of both our music lovers and the Jazzkaar team with the concert at this year’s Christmas Jazz,” says Anne Erm, artistic director of the festival. Gregory Porter’s concert is brought to Estonian jazz fans by NOBE.
Winner of two Grammy Awards for his albums Liquid Spirit and Take Me to the Alley, Gregory Porter has been influenced by blues, gospel, soul and jazz and inspired by singers from different eras such as Nat King Cole, Joe Williams, Donny Hathaway and others. However, it is with his original songs that he has achieved worldwide fame – Laura, Be Good, Revival and Real Good Hands have been listened to tens of millions of times. Today, Porter is a highly sought after performer both in concert halls and stadiums around the world, whether with his ensemble or with a gospel choir, a big band or performing with the world’s top symphony orchestras.
Christmas Jazz 2023 will take place from 29 November to 15 December. The full programme will be announced in early October. Keep an eye on Jazzkaar’s activities on our website, Facebook page and Instagram. Tickets are on sale at the Piletikeskus from 10 August at 12:00.
