Jazzkaar invites its guests to Estonian homes for the fifth year. The home environment and built-in mini stages offer a unique experience. There will be only limited tickets for the home concerts.

 

The home concert series will be opened by Joel Remmel Trio on the 21st of April in Sibulaküla, Tallinn. The show will be held in Liisa’s home stage on a C.M.Schröder piano. Joel Remmel Trio will be showcasing their new album called “Sharp”.  On the same evening Kadri Voorand in duo with Mihkel Mälgand will perform on Riga piano in Kaku and Karli’s living room. We head out of Tallinn the day after to see Liina Saar perform with her band  at Eneli and Jürgen’s home in Muraste. Liina Saar and her band will also perform in Rakvere on the 23rd of April. First time in Jazzkaar’s history the home concerts reach the city of Rakvere.

 

Anna Kaneelina’s concert will take place in Torupilli at Helen’s place. Kaneelina will sing songs from her new album as well as the old forgotten love songs on the 24th of April. Two special concerts have been set up in home environments on Friday, the 26th of April. MaiGroup will play with an international band at Piret’s house in Pikaliiva. The band had a lot of successful in the United States. There will be another concert on the same evening in Kalamaja with a Canadian singer Kaili Kinnon’s. This show will be hosted by Toomas and Piret.

 

Jazzkaar home concerts are produced collaboratively with interns from the Music Estonia INTRO programme.

 

Jazzkaar 30th anniversary takes place between 19. – 28. April. The jubilee year means there will be more concerts and special projects taking place than usual. Jazzkaar is really excited to have so many new Estonian album launches on its 30th birthday.

 

In line with the birthday celebrations there will be some extra merchandising. Friends of jazz can purchase soft jumpers with a text „Kuulan jazzi“ (“I listen to jazz”). Jazzkaar festival flags have been recycled into practical handbags by people from Viljandimaa special needs association.

 

The Urban Project which starts in a week is about concerts in schools, kindergartens, hospitals, cafes and other unexpected places where musicians normally do not perform.

 

Jazzkaar 2019 headliners are Bobby McFerrin, John Scofield, Joshua Redman and Judith Hill.

Festival Jazzkaar is sponsored by JURA, Jazz Pesulad and Eesti Päevaleht.
The year sponsors of 2019 are My City Hotel, BMW, Tallink and Aktaprint. Bobby McFerrin “Gimme 5” concert is presented by Viru Keskus. The festival centre has been built by Prike and Telliskivi Creative City. the festival is supported by Reval Café, Overall, MyFitness, Kodupaber, NOBE and Estonian National Broadcasting.
