MIKE STERN BAND feat. Dennis Chambers, Leni Stern, Bob Franceschini & Chris Minh Doky (USA)

Guitar legend Mike Stern carries one of the strongest quality marks in the jazz world: he played with Miles Davis in 1981–1985 and participated in the recording of three of Davis’ albums. Stern has so far received six Grammy nominations for his albums; he is celebrated and beloved as a band leader, composer and guitar virtuoso and has played in countless ensembles of top musicians. After a pause of 22 years Stern will be performing at Jazzkaar Festival again with his band to celebrate his 70th birthday!

Mike Stern performed at Jazzkaar with his group in 2001 and as a special guest with the Norwegian band Jan Gunnar Hoff Group in 2007. At the request of the audience he is coming to Estonia again, this time with his band of true jazz stars: Grammy-nominated drummer Dennis Chambers; vocalist-guitarist (and also Mike’s wife) venturing in the outskirts of music, Leni Stern; acclaimed saxophonist and contributor on over 80 albums, Bob Franceschini, and Vietnamese-Danish bassist Chris Minh Doky.
