“Sümbioos #2” is the new project by composer and saxophonist Raul Sööt, the main idea of which is the symbiosis of interpretation and jazz, performed by strings, rhythm instruments, soloists and wind instruments. The concert’s artistic director and conductor is Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre’s professor Raul Sööt. The audience will hear Sööt’s original compositions as well as his arrangements of pieces by Raivo Tafenau, Ain Agan, Maian Kärmas and Aleksander Paal.
The main idea is the meeting of different jazz majors–a symbiosis centred around strings and rhythmics, with occasional soloists and wind instruments. Raul Sööt’s arrangements originate from Raivo Tafenau and Ain Agan’s collaborations with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Maian Kärmas’ album Tuigutuled, and Aleksander Paal’s pieces for the project “9 Hymns for Freedom”. Sööt’s own pieces are from his earlier performances and we will also be hearing some of his newest works.
The soloists are Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre jazz music graduates singer Linda Kanter and bass guitarist Henno Kelp, alongside students:singers Ingrid Rabi and Denisa Dārzniece, pianist Kairiin Kukk, flautist Kleer Suursild, violinist Eva Aarnis, saxophonists Pēteris Ancveriņš, Nikita Korzun and Kristers Lauriņš, drummers Karl-Martin Kirm and Aapo Watanen, guitarist Alex Verlin and bass guitarist Felix Verlin.
