CHECK OUT THE PROGRAM!

The summer and autumn of Jazzkaar bring good vibes – in the end of August we begin our season at the Rooftop Cinema. The program of Autumn Jazz from August to November has many sounds and musicians from Brazil, France, Hungary, Denmark and Estonia.

The season begins, as already mentioned at the Rooftop Cinema, where on August 25th performs the Estonian cello quartet C-Jam. Their repertoire reaches from classic to pop and rock – exciting compositions and thrilling energy fill the city centre. The first concert in September with the Maria Faust Group takes place at the Theatre NO99 Jazz Club.

The Danish musicians have received excellent reviews from everywhere they’ve played at – the group’s music by the Estonian Sax player Maria Faust has both live character and a good balance between the composed and the improvised. Autumn Jazz continues at Kumu Art Museum with the female vocal ensemble Söörömöö. All girls come from the Estonian island Saaremaa, their program consists of variety of styles and clever compositions.

October brings music from the fresh albums of Estonian musicians. Andres Mustonen Crossover Quartet never ceases to surprise us – this time they blend the sounds of rhythms of the Western world and the Orient. Kadri Voorand Trio performs a program of beautiful and original music to the texts of Estonian poets. The Pan-Finno-Ugrian Day in the Autumn Jazz program introduces two bands inspired by folk music – the Estonian Elletuse and the Hungarian Live Act Folk. Both bands play the folk music of their homeland spicing it with elements of jazz, pop and at times even R&B.

The pearl of the Autumn Season is the wonderful singer and guitar virtuoso Badi Assad from Brazil – an equal recording and stage partner for such musicians as Larry Coryell, John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny. This wonder-woman imitates different instruments with her voice adding fresh colours to her performances. Autumn Jazz is wrapped up by the noted modern French jazz group François Corneloup Trio.

At the heart of summer, on July 13th and 14th Jazzkaar also invites everyone to the Jazz Stage of the Tallinn Maritime Days.

The main sponsor of Jazzkaar is Elion, our good partners are also Eesti Päevaleht, ERGO, Estonian Air, Tallink, Info-Auto, Aktaprint. The season is supported by Estonian Cultural Endowment, Tallinn City, Hungarian Institute, NPO Finno-Ugria and others.
