On 19th April Jazzkaar gives the citizen of Tallinn musical experiences for free. The programme of Free Concert Day is now for you to peruse. This year, the area of Telliskivi Loomelinnak will be covered with concerts and musical activities throughout that Sunday.

 

One of the most beautiful traditions at the Free Concert Day is Early Bird Excursion. This means you will go to Paljassaare area with ornithologist and head organiser of Viru Folk Peep Veedla at 8am in the morning. At the excursion you will here the music of nature and birds and some interesting stories by Peep.

At 10am Anne Erm, the head of Jazzkaar and Gerli and Ereli Järv from Joogaruum welcome you at the Morning Yoga session in Vaba Lava STL dance hall. 

The Red House opens its doors at 11am with Mingo Rajandi Trio. The trio will make music for a morning film screening. At noon Moment After Goodbye (MAG) performs in front Reval Cafe. The trio performs music written by singer Maarja Aarma. At 1pm a fresh, new collective Innersound performs at the centre of Loomelinnak. Innersound is the winner of Youth Band 2014 competition.

At 2pm two generations of accordionists meet – Kaspar Uljas & Jaak Lutsoja. They perform a selection of their original tunes, Argentinean tangos and jazz music with a French twist. At 3pm Bad Habits Trio touches upon the borders of acoustic jazz in front of F-Hoone.

At 4pm MiaMee performs in the Funderbeam office. MiaMee lets the acoustic sound meet with electronics. At the same time, the traditional Jazz Painting starts in front of the Red House with artist Vano Allsalu leading the brush. 

The day ends at 5pm with a concert from Odd Hugo. Odd Hugo, who has already been at 4 widespread European tours, are a mix of folk, Balkan and blues. The last concert will take place on the big stage of Vaba Lava.

Jazz record Market takes places from 3-5pm in the Red House. Both new and old vinyl and CDs are on sale.  

If the weather is good, lots of events take place outside. Live info feed will be on Jazzkaar homepage and Facebook page. 

Entrance is free to all events on 19th April. The program is supported by Estonian Authors’ Society and Sports and Youth Department of Tallinn.

This year’s biggest jazz celebration is on from 17th to 26th April across Estonia. Jazzkaar gold sponsor is Danske Bank. Main sponsors: KAFO, Eesti Päevaleht.

The festival is supported by City of Tallinn, Cultural Endowment Fund, Ministry of Culture. The festival centre is helped up by Prike, cafe partner Reval Cafe.
