Dock In Absolute „Heartbeats for Jazzkaar“ Luxembourg

Actively touring and bearing the title of Luxembourg’s export artist of the year, the piano trio Dock In Absolute merges contemporary jazz, rock and classical music in their compositions. The trio’s distinctive creation is rich in unexpected twists and turns, being crystal clear and graceful at one moment, and powerful, free and unrestrained at the next. As a gift for Jazzkaar’s 35th anniversary, the trio presents a captivating fusion of jazz and contemporary dance. Collaborating with two exceptional dancers at their live concerts, they weave their brand new album [RE]FLEKT into a cohesive whole of music and movement. This exclusive performance promises a sensory treat at the intersection of jazz and performing arts.

The trio has released three albums: Dock In Absolute (2017), Unlikely (2019) and [RE]FLEKT (2023). Jazznews magazine honoured them with “Newcomer of the Year”, while Jazzit Magazine selected their studio album Unlikely as one of the top 100 albums released in 2019. Their fresh approach to jazz and influences from various music genres have garnered them fans among both jazz and rock music enthusiasts.

Band leader Jean-Philippe Koch is a formally trained pianist and composer from a family of musicians, who also performs in Trio Koch with his violinist father and sister. He has received awards both as a performer and a composer. The majority of Dock In Absolute’s repertoire comes from him. Similarly, Victor Kraus on drums and David Kintziger on bass are formally trained musicians and composers. Victor works in electronic, minimalist, film and chamber music, while David has created music for theatre productions, short films and silent films. The band members’ broad erudition and masterful handling of their instruments enable them to create sparkling and fresh compositions. Their music is sometimes dramatic and sometimes clear – as varied as life itself.
