Bringing together diverse and highly skilled musicians, the Ramuel Tafenau Quartet will take the audience on a journey through exciting soundscapes and melodic arrangements, featuring Scandinavian tenderness and memorable melodies as well as dynamic and energetic rhythms. In addition to band leader Ramuel Tafenau’s earlier original music, which has received a fresh sound in new arrangements, the quartet will also present brand new unreleased creations, also composed by other ensemble members: Artis Boriss (keyboards), Kristen Kütner (guitar) and Janno Trump (bass guitar).

The Ramuel Tafenau Quartet first came together in the spring of 2021 for Ramuel’s master’s exam at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The chemistry between the musicians on stage and very positive feedback inspired them to write new pieces and continue their musical journey together. The quartet has given successful concerts not only in Estonia, but also at the My Unique Jazz Festival at the Schlot Jazz Club in Berlin. In the summer of 2022, the highly esteemed Swedish trombone player Nils Landgren chose the quartet in the main program of the prestigious German jazz festival JazzBaltica.

Ramuel Tafenau is one of the most dazzling Estonian drummers of the younger generation, who has collaborated with several pop and jazz musicians both from Estonia and abroad. He graduated from Georg Ots Tallinn Music College and completed his master’s studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater with Tanel Ruben and Kristjan Randalu. From 2020, Ramuel is one of the project managers at the TAFF:fest jazz festival in Haapsalu. In addition to this, he is also actively engaged in writing his own music. In December 2019,  Tafenau’s debut album of his original music, Gather Around was released, which has received very positive feedback from both critics and the audience.
