The sun rising higher and the days growing longer are always sure signs that the time of Estonia’s biggest jazz party, Jazzkaar, is drawing ever nearer. Running from 20-29 April, this year’s Jazzkaar has a brand new home by the sea – the custom built Marina Pavilion on the Tallinn Harbour grounds. The elegant 1170 m2 pavilion, accommodating 1000 listeners, and its surroundings – the cosy cafes, exhibitions, recreational areas – make for a groovy festival environment, a great place to enjoy the combination of cool music and seaside vibes.

Festival Jazzkaar invites you to celebrate jazz, spring and the city of Tallinn during the last week of April – 20^th to 29^th of April, 2012. The festival runs over a period of 9 days including two weekends, which makes up two opportunities for a perfect spring city break! More often than ever Tallinn is being pointed out for its excellent tourist facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. Being the biggest jazz festival of the Baltics with its 15 000 visitors Jazzkaar now offers travel packages to our foreign visitors.

This year’s lineup presents great artists Jan Garbarek, Lizz Wright, The Brand New Heavies, Christian McBride Trio, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Das Kapital, Jo Stance and many others. The festival also includes a number of workshops and urban activities.

Before the great jazz party in April, Jazzkaar continues to sharpen the senses with Winter Jazz. The season concerts will take place from February 1st to March 16th at Tallinn, Tartu, Viljandi, Pärnu and Haapsalu. The program consists of concerts and master classes by top improvisers such as Marc Ducret (France) and Han Bennink (Netherlands); the young French and Belgium jazz and chanson and also young Estonian female singers with concerts full of poetry, dreams and love.
